Heritage Construction Management
Once approval from relevant authorities has been obtained for making changes to heritage buildings and places, permits for construction are released to builders and developers. It is important to retain the services of a qualified heritage architect as a consultant during the construction process.
Heritage architects who are well-schooled in the nature of heritage fabric are able to contribute to the building process especially where decisions need to be made concerning the introduction of new elements and services. Typically, the appointed heritage architect would attend regular site meetings with the builder and other consultants in order to participate in the detailed resolution of significant heritage fabric.
Rappoport operates an effective compliment to the process by minuting discussions held on site with building personnel for the distribution to all stake holders including owners, contractors, sub-contractors, financiers, councils and the Heritage Branch. Thus, the involvement of the heritage architect in the construction process is crucial for the protection of heritage buildings under construction.
